The Hall of Legends is awarded to an attorney who has practiced in the family law area for at least forty years and who has had a significant impact on the practice; or, an attorney who is deceased for at least one year prior to the award, and although has not practiced in the family law area for forty years, has practiced for a significant enough period and during that time, had a positive and important impact in family law.
This award is for a person who has had a significant impact/betterment of the Family Law Section for the past year (the immediate past chair of the Section is ineligible). If there are no nominations then no award will be given.
The award is given to an attorney who honors the Bar and the legal profession by outstanding dedication to pro bono legal services and Texans in need.
Each year a committee reads every article written for Advanced Family Law, Marriage Dissolution, New Frontiers and the December CLE (Trial Notebook, Drafting, or Technology). The award year begins with Advanced Family Law (August) and ends with Marriage Dissolution the following year (April). The author of the best article that year will be announced at Advanced Family Law.
